Great Ellingham One-Place Study presents "Everyday Histories - Everyday People"
The Crown, 30 Church Street, Great Ellingham, Attleborough, Norfolk, NR17 1LE
The many local history displays will feature some of the day-to-day life of our village people, the events and happenings of the times. Visitors will be able to view most of the names of the villagers listed on the 1939 Register.
The inspired exhibition will also touch on Great Ellingham during the Second World War, including Deopham Green Airfield, evacuees, home guard recollections and blackout infringements. A special table display will focus on the village's 1942 Invasion Committee Records. There will also be a new and impressive themed ‘back drop’ display.
Great Ellingham’s Detecting Guy, Matt Hall, will also be in attendance with some of the amazing archaeological finds from the local area, including WWII objects.
Have you thought about tracing your family tree but unsure where to start? Help will be available with general advice and tips for those wishing to begin their family history journey. Family history is a fascinating, interesting and addictive hobby for both adults and children!
Table top activities will be provided for our younger visitors.
