Grit, Smog and Fame

Looking at the rich industrial past of Radcliffe, the people that lived there and their working conditions. Not everyone worked in the mills. What other jobs did Radcliffe people do in the first half of the 20th century? What was school like? Are there any famous Radcliffe people? The exhibition will be based mainly on research into the local history of Radcliffe but will also include memories of people from the congregation of St Thomas and St John church. There will be activities for children and refreshments will be available. The festival will conclude with a Songs of Praise at 4.00pm on Sunday 20th September 2026 which everyone is warmly invited to attend.

There is wheelchair access through the main body of the church . The only restriction is the two steps into the chancel. The toilet is fully accessible to wheelchair users and there is a ramp leading up to the church main door. Parking is limited although disabled people may park at the church. There is parking nearby and disabled people can be dropped off by the church entrance if there is no space.
Please note that parking at the church is very limited. There is on street parking nearby. Please avoid parking on the grass. It is possible to drive up to the church to drop off people with walking difficulties prior to finding a parking space in town.
