Enjoy an expertly guided tour of the Grade 1 Listed gardens planted by Robert Stayner Holford and his family described by Country Life as 'The finest ensemble of Victorian architecture, landscape and gardens in the Cotswolds'

Take a stroll through the pleasure grounds and around the lake originally created by Robert Stayner Holford nearly 200 years ago.  In spring walk among the towering trees as the new leaves emerge and admire the blue haze of the anemone glade.  This is an unusual garden with a fascinating history, some wonderful vistas and specially made seats to appreciate them from.  All the flower borders are gardened organically and maintained by our head gardener Alix Chalk with her team of volunteers.

Accessibility details

Please note that should any of your party require wheelchair access, there are paths with small gravel chippings in most but not all of the gardens and these are fine with an able pusher.  It is also fine to wheel on the grass, but should it be wet, some places may be a bit more tricky.  There are parts of the Italian Gardens which have small steps; however wheelchair users may enter this part of the gardens through the pergola and view the area from the bottom path.  We have an accessible toilet in the grounds.
