Guildhall Poole
The Guildhall, Market Street, Poole, Dorset, BH15 1NF
Poole Guildhall, a two-storey brown brick building designed in “Palladian taste” style, and enhanced with limestone dressing, was built in the Coronation year of King George III (1761) to house the administration prescribed by Queen Elizabeth I who made Poole a county separate from Dorset.
The building has been considerably adapted but externally the alterations have been sympathetic and the elegant front elevation has been retained. The elegant Hall of Justice with its judicial bench remains intact and is now a wedding hall.
The Society for Poole will be hosting a viewing for Heritage Week with short presentations in the Hall at 10.30am and 11.15am. There will also be displays of pictures of old Poole and a chance to buy the Poole Flag.
