Halifax Minster is noted for its stunning architecture. It is a 15th Century Grade 1 listed Parish Church, the third church on the site. The Minster is a place of worship, prayer, civic engagement, education and culture.

The Minster is rich in history, heritage, spirituality and architecture. Marvel at its beautiful stained glass and the simple elegance of its Commonwealth windows, the craftsmanship of the ornate font cover and box pews, 'Mousey' Thompson chairs in the Regimental Chapel and the Minster's stunning painted wooden ceiling.

The Minster is the spiritual home of the Duke of Wellington's Regiment and proudly home to a number of its colour standards, including that of the Battle of Waterloo.

The Minster has many fine monuments, brasses and graves, including that of Anne Lister, who lived at nearby Shibden Hall, was baptised and worshipped here regularly. The Anne Lister Memorial Weekend runs from Sept 19th with a Memorial Service held at 7.30pm on Friday 19th Sept.

Musically, there's loads going on this year! Choral Evensong is sung on Sat 13th Sept by the RSCM Northern Cathedral Singers at 4pm. Our Sunday Services are sung by the Minster Choir at 10.30am and 4pm. We are delighted to welcome the Black Dyke Band to perform a concert as part of the Heritage Open Day Festival on Weds 17th Sept. Our regular 'Thursday @ One' organ recital, performed by Minster Organist, Sean Montgomery takes place on Thurs 18th Sept with hot and cold buffet lunches served prior to the concert. The Minster bells will ring out special peals on Sat 20th and Sun 21st.

There are guided tours of the Minster on selected dates, check out the website to confirm the dates and times and to book.
