Heading South! (a guided walk)
The Falcon pub building (Grosvenor Street door), Grosvenor Street, Chester, Cheshire, CH1 1RS
An evening stroll southward along Lower Bridge Street to Edgar’s Field Park in Handbridge. The walk will trace the rich and varied heritage of the Bridgegate area (an area that was very downat-heel in the mid-20th Century with many derelict and dilapidated historical properties – so ‘heading south’). It will seek-out lost Rows, explore the importance of the Dee as it sweeps around the city to the south, encounter some brutal structures remaining from the 20th Century, and end in the presence of a goddess carved out of truly ancient sandstone – bedrock with its origins in a distant tropical desert.
Please note that there is a new time for this tour which now starts at 5.45pm.
