Come and explore Wingfield in Suffolk which has deep medieval roots, shaped largely by the influential Wingfield and de la Pole families, whose legacy still defines the village’s character. The name Wingfield likely derives from Old English—possibly winga (a bend in the land) + feld (open land), though other theories link it to the Wuffingas dynasty, early rulers of East Anglia. A fascinating early medieval village with a castle, church, monastic college and Wingfield Barns. Alongside this walk, we are also hosting a shorter 3 mile walk the same day.
