Come and learn about old crafts still practiced here. Whittling, easy to start, massive skill and ‘eye’ to produce striking pieces. Stick making. Take a simple piece of wood and make it into a useful and decorative object.

Whittling is an age-old craft where people carve shapes from wood using nothing but a simple knife—yes, just a knife—and steady hands. It stands as one of the most accessible forms of woodworking, needing only basic tools while offering endless room for creativity. People whittle for many reasons: to relax, express creativity, practice craftsmanship, or create useful objects. The results range from rough, rustic figures to intricate, detailed sculptures.
Walking sticks are needed by so many. Making them decorative is a great skill. How do you straighten your wooden stick? How much imagination is needed to find a top for your stick? More wood? Bone? Metal? Shape to fit. A fascinating look at an almost forgotten craft.
