Discover the rich history of the Norfolk Broads, with a story that spans from Roman times through medieval peat digging to the holidaymakers, sailors and environmentalists of today. Explore how people’s working lives shaped this distinctive landscape and uncover the vital role of the waterways in everyday life.

The Museum’s collection brings this heritage to life through restored traditional boats, interactive displays and fascinating exhibits. Learn how the Broads have been used for food, transport and leisure, and see a remarkable range of boats, tools and artefacts—many of them unique.

Friendly volunteers are on hand to share stories and insights, making this an ideal visit for families, history enthusiasts and curious visitors alike.

We also have a special treat for you - Norfolk Wherry Maud and her Pop-Up Museum will be visiting the museum for the Heritage Open Days. It's a unique opportunity to see a traditional Norfolk trading Wherry and learn about its history.

We look forward to welcoming you at The Museum of The Broads.
