Explore our sites - St Nicholas Church including the tower

As part of the Heritage Open Days celebrations, St Nicholas Church in Newport will be opening its doors to the public. This is a wonderful opportunity for visitors to explore this historic church and learn more about its history, architecture, and role within the local community.

Throughout the day, members of the public are warmly invited to step inside the church and take a look around this important historic building. Visitors will be able to admire the architecture, discover the history of the church, and gain an insight into how St Nicholas Church has served the community over the years.

Staff and volunteers will be on hand to welcome visitors, answer questions, and share interesting stories about the church’s past and present. Information displays may also be available to help bring the history of the church to life.

Visitors will also have the opportunity to book a guided visit to the church tower, offering a chance to experience a part of the building that is not normally open to the public.

Whether you are interested in local history, historic architecture, or simply curious to explore this significant landmark, everyone is welcome to attend.

Booking conditions:

Bookings will open on 12th August via the link. There will be 10 tours starting at 10am each tour can take 10 people. Each tour lasts approximately 40 minutes - There are 100 steep, narrow stairs to the top. The bell room is the half way point. - Visitors should be fit and able to climb this distance and not have any heart, hip or knee conditions. - No children under the age of 8, due to steep stairs
