Step inside the beautiful Grade I listed Brook Street Chapel as it opens its doors especially for Heritage Open Days, offering a fascinating programme of exhibitions, talks, film and history.

Discover two unique exhibitions inside the Chapel. The first explores the occupations of Brook Street Chapel’s ministers and congregation members through the years, revealing the working lives and stories of the local community. The second exhibition delves into the occupations of characters from the novels of Elizabeth Gaskell, bringing her much-loved stories vividly to life.

In the Chapel Hall, enjoy a lively costumed talk, Life on Tatton Farm, presented by Paula Martin and Dave Thomas. These entertaining talks will take place each day at 1.30pm.

On Friday 18th September, Alan Eastwood will present a special talk, Pub Signs and the Working Man, held in the Chapel Hall.

Visitors can also enjoy a film about the life of Elizabeth Gaskell throughout each day.

A very special exhibition will be on display in the Gaskell Exhibition Room, featuring stunning new dolls’ houses of Elizabeth Gaskell’s homes in Knutsford and Plymouth Grove, Manchester. These remarkable miniature creations have been crafted by the talented Angela Ashcroft of Langtree Miniatures
