Behind the Scenes at the Leas Lift
Leas Lift, Lower Sandgate Rd, Folkestone, Kent, CT201PR
Join us this Heritage Open Days for an exclusive behind-the-scenes experience inside the Leas Lift lower station restoration site. This two-hour event offers a rare chance to step inside the historic station and explore the work underway to restore this iconic Victorian landmark.
The visit includes two expert presentations and a guided hard hat tour:
ACME Architects will reveal the architectural story of the Leas Lift, sharing insights into its original design, historic colour schemes, and the challenges of restoring both station buildings. Discover how the project’s vision has taken shape through site analysis, design principles, and proposed improvements – brought to life with illustrative renderings and materials.
RAPID Engineers will explain how the lift’s original water-powered system operated, the issues uncovered during restoration, and the specialist engineering solutions being implemented to ensure its long-term future.
Finally, enjoy a guided hard hat tour led by APEX Construction, plus a Q&A session with the project team.
