In the footsteps of Dronfield's Medieval Master Crafters

Dronfield Hall Barn, High Street, Dronfield, Derbyshire, S18 1PX

  • 17 Sep 2025
  • In person
  • Pre-booking required

A discovery tour from Dronfield's 1430 medieval yeoman dwelling through the town's Conservation Area to view the restored stained glass in St John the Baptist church.

Gathering in the ancient Gallery of the Grade II * Dronfield Hall Barn, visitors will learn about the 15th century building's origins, how the dwelling's architecture evolved over nearly 600 years, to its rescue and restoration in 2014 by the Dronfield Heritage Trust (DHT). Heading off down High Street onto Church Street and into the 12th century parish church, the story will unfold of how the discovery of coloured glass shards buried deep in the graveyard led to a major restoration project of the medieval stained glass windows in the Nave. The visit returns to the popular Barn coffeeshop for an optional lunch (pre-booking essential).
