Explore The Room that changed the world! A Georgian Masterpiece, of worldwide importance that sits in the heart of Bristol, nestled amongst the shops in Broadmead. It tells the history of John Wesley and early Methodism. The first and oldest Methodist building in the world.
John Wesley started a mission here that sparked a worldwide movement. Discover how The New Room played a vital role in providing healthcare and education for those in need. Explore the rooms which bring to life the work of early Methodism. Find out more about the challenges faced by Wesley in his fight for social justice, this message remains pertinent in the 21st century and still changes lives today.
John Wesley’s New Room consists of an 18th century chapel, museum, library, café and contemporary venue hire space – a place where everyone is welcome to explore, step back, reconnect and recharge.

- We have two entrances. The cafe entrance on the Horsefair leads you to our cafe first and your will see our volunteer sitting at the welcome desk. The chapel entrance sit on Broadmead. You can cross the courtyard and get into our chapel from here.
