Jordans Quaker Meeting
Welders Lane, Jordans, Beaconsfield, Buckinghamshire, HP92SN
A short 'Walk and Talk' on Jordans Village to consider its architecture, with particular reference to its original architect Fred Rowntree. This will include a brief history of how the village started in 1919, and how it is run by Jordans Village Ltd (JVL).
Although we cannot go in them, we will look at some of the Rowntree properties, including the cottages around the village green and "The Cottage", the house where the first brick was laid on 15 February 1919.
We shall then head for Jordans Meeting House via its burial ground, and see where Fred Rowntree is buried.
Finally, enjoy a tour of the Meeting House including:
- a short film and a talk in the 1688 Meeting Room.
- a panel display of the History of Jordans Meeting House and Jordans Village.
- cream teas
