Take a look with guide Ann Lightman at some of the people buried at Lawnswood Cemetery who worked to improve the lives of those less fortunate, especially disadvantaged children.

Lawnswood cemetery opened in late 1875 with the first burial taking place in January 1876. The original Victorian 10 acre site , Columbarium and its setting is designated by Historic England as a "Park or Garden of Special Historic Interest". The buildings and some monuments are Grade 11 listed. It is an interesting and beautiful place to visit , and Ann Lightman's illuminating guided walk will this year offer insight into the work of some of those buried in the cemetery who tried to improve the lives of others less fortunate, and especially disadvantaged children. The walk will be split into two parts. The first will remain close to the chapel area. For those wishing walk a little further the walk will then extend to the original Victorian section and into the first extension. Although the terrain is flat, it can be slippery when wet, so come prepared with sturdy shoes and all- weather clothing as the walk is outside.
