Kirkburton Passivhaus Tours

Our house was conceived as a retirement home to be built in our garden. A visit to a Passivhaus in Denby Dale had sparked our interest in this approach as it was both comfortable and energy efficient. The design process was challenging as we live in a conservation area and did not want to dominate surrounding properties. It also needed to take account of Passivhaus principles including topography, orientation and surroundings. The compromise was a modern flat-roofed house built in local stone by local builder Green Building Company. We obtained planning permission in 2018 and the work was completed in 2019.
Having lived here for nearly 6 years, we feel that Passivhaus has lived up to its expectations and was a good decision for us. We are happy to show interested people round.
