Saturday 19 September 1100 - 1400 Pannier Pantry, Bridgeland Street, Bideford. Walking in 500 years of shipbuilding history.
Along the east bank of the River Torridge the South West Coast Path between Appledore and Bideford passes the sites of historic and active ship yards. Locally known as the ship yard path this was used by workers on their way to and from work in the yards. This self guided walk takes about 1.5 – 2 hours. The accompanying website ( https://barthh.org/shipyard-trail/ ) contains information about the different yards history and ships launched. On Saturday 19th September the trail will be launched with groups setting off from Pannier Pantry Bideford and North Devon Maritime Museum, Appledore.
In the Pannier Pantry will be an exhibitions about the Trail, the Young Shipwrights project involving local schools and restoration of Jane Hannah MacDonald III the last rowed lifeboat based at Appledore 1910-1922.

Stairs up to exhibition room. No Lift. Cafe downstairs. Walk is 1.5-2 hours one way. Well signed along South West Coast Path. Walk may be slippery in places especially after rain. Walk is not wheelchair accessible except along quays in Bideford and Appledore If you don't want to do the walk just call in to see the exhibition
Call in and collect information - brochure and map about the walk If you don't wish to do the walk then just come in a view exhibition. Exhibition is upstairs at Pannier Pantry - no lift Walkers will also be leaving North Devon Maritime Museum to walk Appledore to Bideford - see separate event post. Bus no 21 connects Bideford and Appledore.
