Leicester Heritage: A Grade II Listed Building and William Carey Museum Tours

Visit the building and, if interested in the William Carey Museum, spend about half an hour exploring. A guide will be available to explain the museum's history, including the history of the church building itself. Enter through the front of the building and the church's main doors. William Carey, a missionary to India, became a renowned reformer. He worked to abolish Sati, the horrific practice of widows being burned alive with their deceased husbands. Carey also brought the first printing press to India, enabling the printing of newspapers, religious books, including the Holy Bible, in numerous Indian languages.

This site is to see one of the old churches in Leicester. William Carey Museum is for those who are interested to know about the great Man William Carey who was part of this Church and travelled to India as a Missionary and did great work of translating the Bible in Indian languages and also a Man who stood against the social evil practices. He never returned back to the UK. This is the Church congregation sent him to India.
