The synagogue is a Grade II Listed Building opened 127 years ago.

The recently completed Visitor Centre was made possible by a substantial grant from the Heritage Lottery Fund. It includes a timeline detailing the history of the Community since the early days of Queen Victoria’s reign, as well as an interactive computer programme covering all aspects of Judaism.
In addition, there will be informal tours of the whole building with explanations from members of the Jewish Community about its use & the Jewish Faith.
