Liskeard Unlocked - Foresters Hall: Immersive 3D Virtual Scan & Interactive Experience
Liskeard & District Museum, 1 Pike Street, Liskeard, Cornwall, PL14 3JE
Liskeard & District Museum is using advanced laser scanning and game engine technology to create a high-resolution digital reconstruction, a historic Victorian building designed by Henry Rice. Visitors will have the opportunity to engage with this experience through an interactive display and a virtual reality station which will allow them to explore the 3D cloud model. Exhibition attendees can examine decorative masonry, sash windows, ornate facades and other distinctive features that highlight Rice's unique and iconic architectural style.
Museum digital volunteers will be on hand on selected dates (13th & 20th) to demonstrate measurement, analysis, and simulation tools within the 3D software. They will be available to answer any questions about digital capture techniques and discuss how this digital preservation effort supports ongoing heritage and conservation efforts.
The scan is fully navigable, allowing visitors who cannot physically access every corner of the building to enjoy a comprehensive virtual tour. Families, architecture enthusiasts, school groups and history buffs can pause at points of interest, examine structural elements up close and learn about Foresters Hall's unique features through interactive hotspots.
By blending advanced technology with local heritage narratives this immersive exhibit brings Foresters Hall to life for Liskeard Unlocked visitors, emphasising the museum's commitment to digital innovation in heritage interpretation.
