An opportunity to see inside the Masonic Hall in Halesworth and hear about some of those occupations followed by members of the Lodge during the Victorian era.

The Lodge of Prudence is one of the 10 oldest Masonic Lodges in Suffolk and has been meeting in Halesworth since 1827. It met in a number of locations throughout Halesworth until 1880 when it first met in the current Masonic Hall. The building was formerly a warehouse for the nearby departmental store, Roe & Co (which traded in Halesworth until the 1960s).

The building contains several interesting and unusual artefacts which may be unique to the lodge itself, including several tracing cloths which are believed to date back to the 18th and 19th Century. Directed by Graham Francis you will not only hear about the Lodge itself but also about some of the notable characters who were members of the lodge during this period.
