Meet the Artists at the Grosvenor Museum
Grosvenor Museum & Shop, 25-27 Grosvenor Street, Chester, Cheshire, CH1 2DD
Cheshire Artists Network (CAN) will be exhibiting at the Grosvenor Museum until 10 January 2027. The exhibition is entitled, ‘Looking Out, Looking In’ and showcases the work of over 30 artists from all corners of the county. The artists specialize in fine art, textiles, print, contemporary photography, mixed medium, abstract art and ceramics.
Throughout the exhibition there will be a number of ‘Talks’ in the Lecture Theatre together with ‘Meet the Artists’ events that will showcase and demonstrate their own particular genre of art.
Especially for Heritage Open Days in Gallery One, you will see two of the members of CAN, demonstrating their art. They are a husband-and-wife duo. Tony Snowball, a fine art painter will show you how to transfer that gorgeous photograph you took onto canvas ready for painting. There will be scenes of Chester that you will no doubt recognize and you can watch whilst Tony brings the photograph to life.
Secondly, the Chair of CAN, Gill Rees-Snowball will be demonstrating how to stitch into prints of old maps of the city. Some of the stitching will be by hand and some on her trusty sewing machine. She will demonstrate how to stitch using a technique called ‘Free Machine Embroidery’, which to the lay person is a little like tattooing on fabric!
Details of all the Talks and the Meet the Artist events can be found on the CAN website.
