Mincarlo LT412 Diesel Trawler

Heritage Quay, South Pier, Royal Plain, Lowestoft, Suffolk, NR33 0AE

  • Multiple dates available
  • In person
  • Pre-booking not required

Mincarlo LT412 is the last surviving diesel sidewinder trawler built in Lowestoft. Launched in 1961 and now moored on Heritage Quay she remains a floating monument to Lowestoft's earlier fishing and engineering industries.

A visit to the MIncarlo is a journey through time back to 1961 when she was launched by Brooke Marine and fished for 13 years. From 1975 to 1985 she gave standby cover to North Sea oil platforms. Once onboard the MIncarlo visitors can visit the galley (watch out for the cook!), crew mess, crew quarters ( listen out for the snoring sailor!), diesel engine room, skipper's cabin, wheelhouse, fish hold and museum. Although no longer able to go to sea, volunteers run the diesel engine once a month.
