Historical Mossley characters, including Schoolteacher Alfred Holt, will chat to visitors about their everyday lives and the publication of a Centenary Edition of Holt's book "The Story of Mossley" will be launched.

Visitors should be prepared to meet a very strict Victorian Schoolmarm, a Mill Owner's wife, and a Mill girl at Mossley Heritage Centre on Saturday September 12th. Teacher Alfred Holt will also talk to visitors about the book he wrote about Mossley in 1926. A new Centenary version of this book which has just been reprinted will be launched and celebrated. Digital displays will enhance the experiences of these and other characters and visitors will be able to experience the rigours of household chores and the living and working conditions of the Victorian era through our artefacts. Trying out a dolly and posser, weaving on a loom, writing on a slate, checking out a 'gazunder' will be just a few of the ways visitors can imagine life in a different time.
