Marton Museum of Country Bygones is open all day with displays of farming tools, dairy, sheep & needlecraft. For our 15th HODs we have a blacksmith demonstration, a spinning wheel in action, corn dollies, a diorama, activities & trails for children.

Our Everyday Histories are of Marton residents from 200 years ago, when the village included a blacksmith, a wheelwright, a thatcher, a butcher, a pump maker, a saddler, a coal haggler, a carpenter (who was also the undertaker), a builder, a baker and an ale brewer, a miller, a plumber/glazier, a doctor surgeon, a painter/decorator, a shoemaker, a tailor and a bricklayer. We pay tribute to the collector, George Tims, who founded the original museum in the 1960s. He wanted to safeguard and celebrate the crafts of the past as traditional manual tools were being replaced by mechanised and plastic versions. There are thousands of artefacts used in everyday farming and family life, from old woodworking tools to early domestic appliances.
We also celebrate farmer Graham Robson who lived in Marton for all but a few months of his long life, he was a livestock show judge, natural historian, a gifted photographer and a Trustee & supporter of the museum over decades.
