Museum of Homelessness - Open Day
The Manor House Lodge, Seven Sisters Road, London, Greater London, N4 2DE
On the 20th September, as part of the Heritage Open Days event, the Museum of Homelessness (MoH) would like to welcome visitors to our site to hear untold stories from the national collection for homelessness and support our life-changing community work.
Our museum includes not only unique objects, but also a community garden, thought-provoking murals, and refreshments with every booking. Our previous exhibitions have won many awards and audience accolades, including Temporary Exhibition of the Year (Museums and Heritage Awards). Through an approach that looks to smash the traditional model of glass cases and guarded access, we instead present our objects through a tour of up to 20 people that includes speech, object handling, discussion, and so much more.
For this event, we are inviting the public to not only hear stories from our collection, but also explore our gardens and archive. As a small, independent Museum that doesn’t take any government funding, we rely on special events such as this to continue working with and for members of the homeless community in London. Come along, tell your friends and have a great day out at the only Museum of Homelessness in the world.
