National Trust The Firs: Elgar's Birthplace
The Firs Elgars Birthplace, Crown East Lane, Lower Broadheath, Worcester, Worcestershire, WR2 6RH
As you step into the birthplace cottage of Sir Edward Elgar, in the heart of his 'beloved country' between Worcester and the Malvern Hills, you are stepping into a space that inspired and comforted him, his entire life. Stand within the four walls of the humble cottage where he was born and be immersed in a world that Elgar believed already contained music that was there for the taking.
Our idyllic cottage garden has been planted in the classic cottage garden style, the garden offers a place to sit, reflect, and admire a vast array of seasonal flowers and plants, throughout the year. There is also an orchard and small woodland to explore.
Pop into the award winning café run by Little Al's Kitchen who pride themselves on serving consistently great and fair-trade coffee, refreshing teas, and a selection of brunch favourites. Tuck into a wide selection, including hearty soups, slow-cooked ham sandwiches, and not to forget cracking sponge cakes.
The Firs is open to the public on Monday, Friday, Saturday and Sunday from 10am-5pm (Last entry 4.30pm). Little Al's Kitchen is open on those days from 10am-4.30pm.
