Public house, originally three 14th century cottages

The building was originally on Castle Farm, forming part of the Bishop Winchester's estate. By the nineteenth century it had become a pub. There is rumoured to be a tunnel running from the pub cellar to the castle.
The present name relates to Admiral Horatio Nelson, who visited Lady Emma Hamilton in Farnham.
