Neolithic Living - Life in Neolithic Cumbria
Castlerigg Stone Circle, Castle Lane, Keswick, Cumbria, CA12 4RN
Castlerigg Stone Circle was built about 4.500 years ago by late Neolithic settlers in North Cumbria, who almost certainly had links to settled communities in Ireland and Orkney. We have many clues about how these people came to settle in this area and how they might have lived their day to day lives - in many ways not too different to our 21st century living!
We will explore how they might have lived their day to day lives, what their houses might have looked like, what they ate and how they farmed. Items from the Neolithic handling collection at Keswick Museum will be on site for you to get a feel for the life you might have lived 4,500 years ago.
