Newhaven Museum
Newhaven Museum, Avis Road, Newhaven, East Sussex, BN9 0PR
For 2025's Heritage Open Days we will have a special exhibition highlighting the building of Newhaven's breakwater and associated harbour works in the 1880s. The museum's collections include an archive of over 20,000 images related to the history and people of Newhaven and the surrounding district. The images can be searched and viewed on our in-house computer. There is also an extensive collection of artefacts on display - many have links to Newhaven's maritime heritage, but other topics include Newhaven's involvement as a key supply and front line port during both World Wars, local industries and the treatment of the poor during the Victorian era. Visitors can view the displays at their leisure and our helpful volunteer stewards are available to answer questions or help you explore our archives and photo collection. Refreshments and toilets are available at the adjacent Paradise Park garden centre.
