The market is held twice monthly in North Parade Avenue, which has a wonderful diversity of architectural styles.

The market has been operating for 14 years as a community event and has prospered tremendously, with a very varied mixture of foods on offer alongside crafts and local charity stalls. The street of small shops and eating places has been pedestrianised and has become a lively meeting place for local residents with its own distinctive atmosphere. The market commissioned a book by eminent local historian, Liz Woolley, to present the history of the street (explaining why North Parade is to the South of South Parade) and describe the changing backgrounds and occupations of all its past residents. The book will be available at the market.
