Step inside a 12th-century Norman Castle built for a conquering King. Wander through the lavish recreated spaces of King Henry I’s palace and immerse yourself in the sights and sounds of medieval England. Expect vibrant interiors, ornate furniture, grand doorways and a majestic Great Hall set for a feast. Enjoy panoramic views of Norwich from the battlements, where medieval landmarks meet modern design. Then explore the everyday lives of those living in medieval Norwich through 900 remarkable objects in The Gallery of Medieval Life: A British Museum Partnership.

The museums other galleries house one of the finest collections of Anglo-Saxon objects in the UK, including the mysterious Spong Man. Discover ancient and extinct beast, birds of Britain and the stunning dioramas of Norfolk habitats in our Natural History galleries. Step into the world of Decorative Arts with pottery, textiles and metalwork reflecting the styles of the era from 1400 to the present day. Explore the rich archive and objects illustrating the 300-year history of the Royal Norfolk Regiment. Tickets can be booked from the Norwich Castle website, and in person from the Norwich Castle Ticket desk only. Pre-booking will open at 10am on Wednesday 26 August and close at 11.59pm on Friday 18 September.

Accessibility details

There are two Blue Badge parking spaces on site, on a first come first served basis. You are also welcome to drive up and drop off visitors with access requirements at the Castle entrance. To keep everyone safe, we can accommodate up to five wheelchair users above ground floor level at any one time. This is due to the historic structure of the building and our current evacuation plans.
