The contribution of women to Sheffield history is often overlooked or forgotten.
This is the second of two city centre walks that tell stories of local women from the last quarter of the 18th century to the present day who contributed to women's more active and equal participation in Sheffield public life. The walks can be done separately, or together and in any order.
This walk starts outside Sheffield Town Hall in Surrey Street and ends at the Old Town Hall on Waingate, a distance of about a mile. We walk along some city side streets which can be uneven and steep, so it could be difficult for people with mobility issues, although the route should be accessible to people in electric wheelchairs or mobility scooters.
