Discover Nymans Garden and House with free entry on Friday 19 and Saturday 20 September.

Set in the stunning countryside of the Sussex Weald, Nymans is one of the National Trust's finest gardens, containing rare and unusual plant collections. The house, a partial ruin, reflects the personalities and stories of the creative Messel family.

In the house and gallery, an exhibition explores the creativity of Oliver Messel, theatre designer for stage and screen, and master of illusion and make-believe. From interior design to theatre props and film work, Oliver Messel’s life in design was influenced by a childhood spent at Nymans. He became Britain’s leading stage designer of the mid twentieth century with his lavish designs.
