Old Shoreham Heritage - art and history workshops
St. Nicolas Lane, Shoreham-by-Sea, West Sussex, BN43 5NH
RESEARCHING YOUR BACK GARDEN HISTORY
Evidence of 3000 years of human history lies in the houses and roadsides of Old Shoreham, including the base for an entire army during World War One. This drop-in session provides an opportunity to explore our maps and resources, discuss the history to be found in the gardens of Old Shoreham and learn how to dig into it for yourself.
A SOUNDSCAPE FOR OLD SHOREHAM
Join sound artist Simon James to gain another sense of Old Shoreham. Simon will talk about his recordings of the sounds of Shoreham Port and share extracts from his journals before leading a listening walk around St Nicolas and the surrounding area to start a discussion about designing a local soundscape connecting heritage, environment and community.
A BANNER FOR OLD SHOREHAM
This practical workshop, facilitated by the Shoreham Creatives, is inspired by the Shoreham Community Quilt, which will be on display throughout the festival. The Friends of Old Shoreham have invited Shoreham Creatives to create a Banner for Old Shoreham, stitching together a new story that celebrates Old Shoreham in fabric, led by the imagination and interest of participants.
