Join us for an afternoon of local history, sustainability and community.
Discover the story of Old St Leonard's Hall, which for generations had been at the heart of the St Leonard's community. After years of disuse the building has been thoughtfully restored and transformed into a zero-carbon home, architectural studio and multifunctional event space for the community to enjoy.
Event Highlights:
At 2pm Fabrica Architecture will talk about Old St Leonard's Hall's history and its sustainable redevelopment — from a disused Victorian Sunday school to a modern, zero-carbon studio and community space. Now serving as an energy-efficient workspace by day and a vibrant community hub in the evenings and on weekends, Old St Leonard's Hall is a successful example of regeneration and adaptive reuse.
This unique project blends heritage preservation with forward-thinking environmental design — demonstrating how the past and the future can coexist in creative and sustainable ways.
The talk will be followed by a presentation from the Exeter Dissenters' Graveyard Trust, who will share insights into their ongoing work with the opportunity to visit the nearby historic graveyard, enriched with engaging storytelling.
Refreshments will be served.
Come along to celebrate Exeter’s heritage, discover inspiring stories of sustainability and renewal, and connect with your local community.
