Olde Sawley Heritage Trail

The Chair of the Sawley and District Historical Society will lead a walk around the village of Sawley. It is situated at a major crossing point of the River Trent and has been an important village in the area. A number of former residents have historical significance, and the church dates from Saxon times.
The walk will take 90 minutes and cover approximately 1.5 miles. It will start in the Tamworth Road car park of All Saints’ Church. Sensible shoes are recommended for some field walking.

Accessibility details

Part of the walk will cross the field where a Roman fort once stood. There is no footpath here and access is through modern kissing gates. Unfortunately there is no wheelchair access here, so wheelchair users are recommended to use the main road back to All Saints Church for the final part of the walk.
