Our Heritage: Learning from the past to protect the future: Peak District National Park and Derwent Valley Mills World Heritage Sites
Loudon Lodge, Grove St, Derby, Derbyshire, DE23 8EL
Established to preserve and enhance the natural beauty, cultural history and heritage of these environments as living, working landscapes, these special places have both been immensely successful creations.
However, they face tremendous challenges, especially to manage and build resilience against the climate crisis, and the need to increase biodiversity, public engagement and economic opportunities.
What can we learn from their history and development?
How can we ensure a richer, more sustainable future for these living landscapes and their peoples (through agriculture, tourism and other means)?
