Portsmouth at Play - Poetry Workshop

Join Jackson Davies, Portsmouth's Poet Laureate, for a two-hour poetry workshop inspired by and celebrating the history of Portsmouth at play!

As Portsmouth celebrates the centenary of being awarded city status in 1926, the Portsmouth History Centre and Portsmouth Museum and Art Gallery invite you to be inspired by a century of Portsmouth at play. Using photographs taken from the archives and the Museum's collection, this workshop will showcase Pompey people in their leisure time - from the roller rink to Children's Corner, from Canoe Lake to Hilsea Lido - and invite you to create your own verse celebrating our city's playful history! Feel free to bring your own photographs of special places in Portsmouth as inspiration for the workshop and for sharing stories.
