Step back in time and experience the sights, sounds and stories of Lancashire’s cotton industry at Queen Street Mill; Offering a rare chance to explore an authentic 19th-century cotton factory as it would have been in the height of production, with historic machinery that still runs today – for FREE!
On our Heritage Open Days, you can discover what life was like in a working mill. You can watch our impressive 130-year-old Lancashire Looms thunder into action and explore areas of the mill not usually open to the public. During your visit, you can enjoy guided tours led by our knowledgeable volunteers, meet our costumed staff and soak up the atmosphere of a working weaving shed.
On Saturday 12 September, we’re delighted to welcome the Bowland branch of the Guild of Weavers, Spinners and Dyers, who will be demonstrating traditional fibre crafts and sharing their expertise in handweaving and spinning.
Whether you’re fascinated by history, love hands-on crafts, or are simply looking for a unique day out, there’s something for everyone to enjoy.

The majority of the building is single-storey, and there is a lift available to the engine house. Due to the lifts size, we may not be able to accommodate motorised scooters. The flooring is largely original and therefore can be uneven in places. Due to the limited size and operational capacity of our café facilities, we regret that we are not currently able to offer gluten-free options.
