Reconstruct The Ruins
Burgh Castle Fort, High Road, Burgh Castle, Norfolk, NR31 9QQ
Visit one of the UK’s finest examples of a Roman wall, originally built as a coastal fort in the 3rd and 4th centuries AD. Our fun event will provide a unique glimpse into Roman military life.
Join us for a fun and educational event where you can follow a specially designed trail that brings ancient times to life. Along the way, you’ll find storyboards with fascinating details about Roman engineering and daily life, plus friendly guides ready to answer your questions.
School-age children can take part in a hands-on activity by building their own miniature wall using stones and air-drying clay. And don’t forget your binoculars and camera—our scenic viewpoint offers sweeping views over the river, and if the tide is right, you’ll spot a wide variety of birdlife on the mudflats.

This is a heritage monument site, limiting the building of access routes etc. The pathway to the wall is wheelchair friendly, but to get close to the wall, a wheelchair fitted with all terrain tires will be more comfortable for the rider. Toilets will be available in the near by village hall.
We are arranging for toilet facilities and refreshments to be available in the Village Hall
