Rediscovering the Haymarket
S1 Artspace, 2 Haymarket and 5-7 Commercial Street, Sheffield, South Yorkshire, S1 2AT
Following S1 Artspace’s move to the city centre last year, join us from 18–21 September for a programme of events to celebrate Heritage Open Days and the Castlegate Festival.
Built in 1871, this Grade II listed landmark stands at the gateway to Sheffield’s historic Castlegate. Originally built to serve as Sheffield’s first General Post Office, it later became the Sheffield Stock Exchange and, more recently, the Yorkshire Bank. Today, it is S1 Artspace’s new home.
Over the next two years, the building will gradually be reopened to the public and spaces will become occupied as we complete improvements to create a fully accessible, fit-for-purpose arts venue.
Drop in for a first look inside, discover its fascinating history, and hear more about our plans for the future.
Further details of the events programme and opening times will be shared over the next few weeks.
