'Rights not Charity' - Disability Activism and the Suffragette Movement
60-62 Nelson Street, Manchester, Greater Manchester, M13 9WP
Our open day will be a four hour drop in from 11.30am - 15.30pm. Please book your free ticket using the link below!
You can explore our museum and find out about the Pankhurst family and the suffragettes, dress up as a suffragette in our parlour, and even chalk-graffiti in our Edwardian garden!
We also have specific events on for Heritage Open Days - you can create your own mini protest placard based upon the slogans, banners and placards used by disability rights activists at protests, you can join our information table to learn about different groups, marches, and activists in different periods, including suffragettes with disabilities such as Rosa May Billinghurst, and you can learn the history behind slogans such as 'Rights not Charity' and the modern struggle for equality, access and inclusion.
