Join us to find out exactly what happens to the recycling from Greater Manchester once your bin has been collected. Discover how the state-of-the-art technology in our Materials Recovery Facility sorts and separates the recycling ready to be transformed into something new. You will also have an opportunity to take part in activities to dispel those recycling myths, ask questions and understand why getting it right is important. This is a two hour session that includes a tour plus some indoor recycling activities. Pre-booking is essential, and numbers are limited so book early. More relevant to residents of the Greater Manchester Waste contract as this is what happens to their waste but people in other areas will also find it interesting.

Minimum age 7 and under 18's must be accompanied. The number of visitors with access needs for wheelchairs is limited to one due to the evacuation procedure from the upstairs visitor room. The site tour element will be an alternative route for people with restricted mobility due to stairs. People with heart pacemakers, insulin pumps, cochlear implants also need an alternative route on the tour. (Declare on booking). Full PPE will be made available, but visitors must wear footwear suitable for an industrial site. All arms and legs covered (preferably trousers)
The PPE issued to you will be: high visibility vest, hard hat, ear defenders, safety glasses and gloves and these must be worn to participate in the tour. The tour involves a walk of 40 minutes around the site and into the recycling facility. This includes approximately 40 stairs. As mentioned above, there are alternative routes.
