Explore the magnificent Tudor house and wander the beautiful grounds for free. See demonstrations of traditional yarn spinning and hear lute performances throughout the day in the Great Hall. And experience the craft of woodturning with demonstrations and a market from local woodturning group, Red Rose Woodturners.

Join us on site at Rufford Old Hall for free this Heritage Open Day. Explore the Tudor house, gardens and woodlands in Autumn colour and then stop by the tearoom for a tasty treat.

Throughout the day we will also be joined by Red Rose Woodturners who will be demonstrating the art and craft of using hand-held tools on a wood lathe, turning a piece of wood into an object. They’ll also be the chance to purchase some of these wonderful, handcrafted pieces created by members of the Red Rose Woodturners.

Inside the house, see demonstrations of traditional yarn spinning and hear lute performances throughout the day in the Great Hall.

Accessibility details

Designated mobility parking spaces are located close to the entrance. Wheelchair access is restricted in the house. Self-propelled wheelchairs can access the ground floor and the Great Hall. Electric wheelchairs and mobility scooters can only access the Great Hall. Please note there are a number of stairs to the first floor. An adapted toilet can be found in the cobbled courtyard. Wheelchairs are limited to the ground floor of the Tudor house due to steps. Assistance dogs are only allowed in the house and garden. Dogs on leads are welcome in the North Woods, North Paddock and cobbled Courtyard.

Additional information

Dogs are welcome in the gardens and outside the house is pushchair and pram friendly. There will also be demonstrations of Heritage Crafts.
