Woodbridge celebrates 450 years of the Shire Hall on September 13, 2025, with an Elizabethan-themed event featuring historic re-enactment, music, art workshops, and traditional food.

Woodbridge commemorates 450 years of the Shire Hall on September 13, 2025, with a lively celebration on Market Hill. Organized by the Woodbridge Town Council during National Heritage Week, the event honours the hall's role in civic life since Elizabethan times. Activities begin Friday evening with music, art projections, and a screen-printing workshop. Saturday’s festivities start at noon with living history displays, Tudor street scenes, and interactive performances by jesters and dancers. Visitors can explore the Shire Hall’s courtroom and participate in a collaborative art session by the Woodbridge Festival of Art and Music. Free giveaways and street entertainment, including jesters and interactive workshops, add to the festive atmosphere. Food options include a subsidised hog roast, pie and mash, and a special heritage ice cream flavour from The Galley Creamery. The Kings Head pub will provide drinks. The event aims to engage all ages in local heritage and community spirit. With free entry, it invites lifelong residents and visitors alike to join in celebrating Woodbridge’s history and pride.
