Housed in one of Sheffield's most distinctive 1930s buildings, Showroom Cinema has been a cornerstone of independent cinema in the city for over three decades. The team are delighted to welcome you to take a free behind-the-scenes tour of the cinema's projection booths, which have screened thousands of the best independent films from around the world.
Projection tours are limited to groups of four people and will take place every hour from 10am to 4pm. Dates to be confirmed during Heritage Open Days, 11 to 20 September 2026.
Tours begin promptly, so please arrive five minutes early. We are one of the only cinemas in the country still offering 35mm film projection, a rare chance to see this incredible format up close.

Tour guests will be guided through projection booths 3 and 4, areas which are accessible by wheelchair. The projection booths are accessible via the lift in our cinema foyer. Pushchair/pram friendly: Whilst you are on the tour these car be stored in our private cafe. Though we do not have disabled parking on site, we do have 4 disabled bays at the front of the Work Station, for blue badge holders.
Our Technical Manager, Andy Graves will be greeting guests and carrying out the tours. Please could booked guests make their way to the box office 5-10 minutes before their booked tour, to notify the team that they have arrived.
