Guided Tour of the Sikh Museum and Gurdwara, Northampton

Visit Northampton’s landmark building on Sunday 13 September for a fascinating guided tour, commencing at 1:00pm.

Guests will be welcomed with a complimentary traditional Sikh lunch (Langar) on arrival and will learn about the significance of this unique community practice, which embodies equality, inclusivity and selfless service.

The programme will include an introduction to the Sikh faith, an overview of the role and importance of the Gurdwara (Sikh place of worship), and an instrumental presentation in the beautiful prayer hall, followed by an interactive question-and-answer session.

Visitors will then enjoy a guided tour of the Sikh Museum Northampton, which showcases Sikh values, history, heritage and cultural artefacts. Featured exhibitions include:

Sikh Identity
Sikhs in the First World War
Sikh Weddings and Traditions
Sikh Music and Instruments
Inspirational Sikh Women from the 16th Century

The museum also highlights Punjabi heritage through exhibitions covering Princess Sophia Duleep Singh, the prominent suffragette and social activist, alongside displays exploring Punjabi culture, history and traditional musical instruments.

This engaging and informative experience offers a unique opportunity to discover Sikh faith, heritage and culture within one of Northampton’s newest community landmarks.
