Have you passed that rather attractive house, The Elms in Bedhampton ? Doubtless you have heard of the Battle of Waterloo ? Why does that house, created in the fancy Gothic style of Strawberry Hill, have a Waterloo Room? Come and find all about Sir John Theophilus Lee who had the room created specifically to dine the Iron Duke, who never actually came. John Lee, present at many naval battles but who never achieved naval officer status; John Lee, Havant Magistrate who would not 'sit' in judgement in Havant; John Lee, amazingly talented painter. Come and hear all about this amazing, irritating chap.
